How New Wave fits

Every New Wave garment is designed to one of four fit classifications. The fit is listed on each product page so you know what you're getting before you order.

TAILORED
Closer and more structured.
STANDARD
Designed around a conventional true-to-size fit.
RELAXED
More room through the body while retaining intentional shape.
OVERSIZED
Deliberately wider and/or longer than a standard fit.

How to measure

Body measurements are taken on you. Compare them to a garment you already own and like the fit of.

Garment measurements are taken flat on the garment itself. They are not body measurements, and they include the room designed into the fit.

Chest
Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the tape level and comfortable.
Waist
Measure around your natural waistline, where your body bends side to side.
Hip
Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat.
Garment length
Measured on the garment, from the highest point of the shoulder straight down to the hem.
Sleeve length
Measured on the garment, from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff.

Where a style needs it, we also publish product-specific measurements — inseam, shoulder, hem opening or head circumference.

Product-specific sizing

Measurements are published per style, taken from the approved specification for that garment. Check the product page for the fit classification and the measurements for the style you're looking at.

Between sizes

If you're between sizes, think about the fit you're after rather than the number. On a tailored or standard fit, sizing up gives you more room through the body. On a relaxed or oversized fit, sizing down usually still leaves plenty of room.
